What is an AI Agent?

An AI Agent can autonomously break down tasks, select tools, and complete complex workflows based on the ultimate goals set by the user. Think of an AI Agent as a digital assistant capable of “thinking and acting on its own”. Rather than just reacting to specific prompts, it makes judgments on how to proceed based on a “goal,” flexibly adjusting strategies and executing processes throughout the task.

Core Components

  • The Brain: The core of an AI Agent is the Large Language Model (LLM). It functions as the brain, providing the capacity for instruction comprehension, logic, decision-making, and reasoning.
  • The Hands and Feet: Beyond the brain, an AI Agent requires “limbs” to perform actions. This involves integrating RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), RPA (Robotic Process Automation), or using APIs to connect with other tools. These integrations transform the AI Agent into a digital assistant that can both think and execute tasks.
